Event supports Historical Society

On behalf of the Historical Society of Frederick County, I express our thanks to everyone who helped to make last month’s Treasured Heirloom Event a tremendous success.

The event would not be possible without the assistance of the experts: Jim Callear, Anne-Lynn Gross, Helen Becraft Irvine, Ross Kelbaugh, David Maloney, Mary Jane Perini, Don Reedy, George Rue, Bruce Schuettinger, Kenzie Smith, Jeff Stouffer, Sam Tressler, and Laura Turner. The expert’s willingness to share their knowledge of antiques and collectibles is crucial to the event.

I also express our thanks to the Frederick Towne Mall for hosting the event, the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, Brewer’s Alley Restaurant and Roy Underhill. Richard Markey designed the poster.

The 2006 Treasured Heirloom Event raised more money in support of the Historical Society’s educational programs due in large measure to the generosity of the event’s sponsors. Businesses that sponsored the event were Cozy Restaurant & Inn, Sandy Spring Bank, Comet Communications, Frederick Air, Art Care Associates, Farmers & Mechanics Bank, and the Tourism Council of Frederick County.

Other sponsors were: Dillon Barry, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Pinoake Browning, William H. Browning, Robert GIosenger, Margaret Denton, Early Harrington, Mary Harris, Gil House, Helen Maiwald, Frances Randall, Marlene M. Rollins, Pepper Scotto, Mr. and Mrs. William Thrasher, Sam Williamson, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Yewell.

Thanks to the committee members, Claudia Allemang, Helen Becker, Peg Denton, Duane Doxzen, Mark Hudson and Frances Randall.

COLLEEN M. REMSBERG, president of the Historical Society of Frederick County
