Riley, Ganse, Peuler Get Nod
Running unopposed, Art Riley recieved the Capital District's unanimous acclamation as Governor 2007-2008 during the Capital District Convention which was recently held in Rockville, MD. Also unopposed, Tom Ganse received the District's unanimous acclamation as Governor Elect 2007-2008. None of the three candidates (Dick Feeser, Charlie Adams, Jerry Peuler) who were vying for Capital District's Endorsement for the position of Kiwanis International Trustee received a majority vote on the first ballot, necessitating a run-off between Adams and Peuler. On the second ballot, Peuler won the endorsement.

Tabb Club Sponsors Teenager of the Year Award Winner

Aagya Mathur, a 2007 Tabb High School graduate, has won the Kiwanis Capital District 2007 Teenager of the Year. Roger Diehl, Chairman of the Capital District Teenager of the Year program, presented the certificate and the $1000 winning check to her at the Annual Capital District Convention held in Rockville, MD on August 17-19, 2007.

Ms. Mathur, currently attending University of Virginia, won the Teenager of the Year sponsored by Tabb Kiwanis Club. She then went on to win the Division 23 title, and later the Capital District title which included Teenagers of the Year participants from Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia.

The Kiwanis Teenager of the Year competition is held annually for high school seniors. The purpose of the award is to give recognition to deserving teenagers for their academic achievements, citizenship, leadership performance and service to their school and community. For more information, call your local Kiwanis Club or local high school guidance office.

89th Capital District Convention
- Epilogue -

By the time the dust settled there were 590 registrants to the capial District Convention held recently in Rockville, Maryland. Chairman, Charles Falck and his committee would like to thank all those who participated in making the event a success. We look forward to seeing everybody next year in Richmond.
