Rehoboth
Beach Kiwanis Celebrates Local Schools Service Leadership
Programs
by Rosemary Cummings
In August, Rehoboth Beach Kiwanis celebrated the
two school districts, Indian River SD (IRSD) and
Cape Henlopen SD (CHSD),
and the service programs the club supports. During a luncheon
celebration, Frankford ES indicated they would continue the
Terrific Kids and Bug programs as they definitely help the
school achieve its national standing. President George Blacklock
presented Rosalyn Fradel a Certificate
of
Appreciation from Kiwanis International for her work with
the K-Kids Club.
As the new school year begins, Lord Baltimore ES
advisor, Ms.
Fradel and Kiwanian, Ms. Cummings are planning the schedule
and suggesting new projects to benefit the school and the
community. In addition, receiving a Certificate of
Appreciation was Ms.
Janet Urdahl, Rehoboth Elementary who attended the luncheon
with 3rd grade teacher Ms. Mary Mathes. Together they plan
to start a K-Kids program as part of the before-school program.
Mr. John Yore received a Certificate of Appreciation for
his support of the Key Club, which had a banner
year during 2006-2007 including election of the current
Lt. Gov, and raising over $8,000 in the Race for Rachael
project.
Mr. Ed Waples, CHSD Supervisor, Alternative/Achievement Gap
Programs (who remembered he once played sports for the Key
Club team in Wilmington) brought greetings from Superintendent,
George Stone who was unable to attend. The meeting hinted
there will be a few new Kiwanians and several new
Service Leadership
programs.
