What
Great Fun & Fellowship! What a GREAT District Convention! Well, Capital District Kiwanians, you have outdone yourselves. As I reflect on our just-completed 89th Annual Capital District Kiwanis Convention held at the almost-completed Hilton Hotel and Executive Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland, I hope you agree it was a resounding success. ...I believe our most important task in the next FOUR weeks is to help each and every club try to make "Distinguished Club" status. Why? Well, first every club (and everyone is a member of a club, their club) has worked hard this year in service to their communities. Most clubs, and I do mean most, are either slightly ahead on membership net growth or a just a bit shy of +1 by two or three members. more |

Report
of 52nd CKI Convention
by Jeffrey Wolff The Capital Crabs visited Portland, Oregon in August for the 52nd Annual Circle K International Convention and they left with great memories, new friends and a high percentage of the awards. Capital District CKI was well represented by a delegation of 35 CKI members and Kiwanians who had a great time at the annual conference this time hosted by the Pacific-Northwest District. In spite of having travel over 2000 miles to reach convention, Capital had the third largest delegation in attendance behind California-Nevada-Hawaii and the host district. more |

Wounded Vets From
Vietnam Bill Henekey (second from left) recently spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg about his experience in Vietnam, his resulting injuries, and the organization he founded, Families of the Wounded, Inc. The mission of the organization is to provide financial resources in support of family members/caregiver of military service men and women who have either been wounded in combat operations or as the result of line-of-duty activities in support of combat operations.
