Aktion Club of Northern Neck, VA Chartered
by Gov. Bob Cressy

On a bright sunny evening near the bay August 29th the new Aktion Club of Northern Neck was chartered as the newest Aktion Club in the Capital District. It is such a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and the delight in faces and voices of the newest members of the Kiwanis family. Saying they are EXCITED is an understatement to be sure. The club, quite understandably, is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Northern Neck. (Left Charter President Amy Fuchs receives the charter from Kiwanis International for the new Aktion Club of Northern Neck, VA, from Capital District Governor Bob Cressy on August 29th.)

The night featured a nice cross section of Kiwanis District and Club member in attendance to share a buffet dinner and participate in the Charter ceremony. Charter officers and members were presented their Aktion Club pins by different Kiwanians allowing for full participation. Northern Neck Kiwanians Karin Lamb was the mistress of ceremonies and Mary Jane "MJ" Chewning presided over the installation of officers. (Right, Mary Jane "MJ" Chewning presents the symbols of presidential authority, the Aktion Club Bell and Gavel, to President Amy Fuchs.)

The new Aktion Club President is Amy Fuchs, Vice President is Michelle Dunning, Joyce Taylor is the new Secretary and Linda Weldon is the Charter Treasurer. Attending among the Kiwanian guests were PLG Mary Murphy, Judy Murray, Heart of Virginia Region District Trustee Designate Don Schroeder, Hampton Roads District Trustee Floyd Brown and Capital District Governor Bob Cressy.

The Aktion Club Motto is "Development has no disability". The Aktion Club Objects are: "To Develop initiative and leadership; To Provide experience in living and working together; To Serve the community; and To Prepare for useful citizenship." With the sponsorship and mentoring of the Kiwanis Club of Northern Neck, our newest Aktion club will be triumphant!
