During his official visit
to Division 14 on Monday, October 22, Governor Art
presented a George F. Hixson Fellowship to Jean Scarburgh.
Jean has been a Kiwanian since 1990 and is still serving
as a Member of the Board of Directors. She is also
currently the Interclub Chair and she has served as
chair of several committees. The $1,000 donated by
the Kiwanis Club of Ellicott City in her honor was
directed to go to the IDD program. (Pictured above:

Each year, the Kiwanis Club budgets $1,000 toward the International Foundation and it usually directed toward a George F. Hixson Fellowship. A committee of club Hixson recipients select the next person to honor. In addition, the club presents a Life Membership in the Capital District Foundation to every member on their first anniversary in our club.

Kiwanis International President Dave Curry (right) and First Lady Eva Curry will
be visiting the Capital District in late January 2008. During
this special time our district will be hosting a number of
events for the First Family of Kiwanis. On Saturday evening,
January 26, 2008 Governor Art and First Lady Vickie will
host a reception from 6-7 pm (with cash bar) followed by
dinner at the Comfort Inn Conference Center, 4500 Crain Hwy,
Bowie, Maryland 20716.
