Kiwanis Club of the Peninsula at Oyster Point Partners with Educators
by Suzi Edwards

The Kiwanis Club of the Peninsula at Oyster Point is a partner in education with L. F. Palmer Elementary School. On October 25, 2007, the Club had "Dictionary Day" and gave a new hard cover dictionary to every student in the fourth grade at Palmer Elementary School, to the students currently in fifth grade who did not attend Palmer last year, and to new fourth and fifth grade teachers. Newport News School Board member Pat Woodbury joined the club to make the presentations. This is the third year that the club has provided dictionaries to the fourth grade students and teachers. Pictured left, Community Service Chairman for the Kiwanis Club of the Peninsula at Oyster Point, Chuck Root, presents a new dictionary to Izzie R. Brown, Principal of Palmer Elementary School. Pictured right, shown with some of the dictionaries that would be distributed are (left to right) from the Kiwanis Club of the Peninsula at Oyster Point: Chuck Root, Community Service Chairman, Robin Harnish, Club President Sandy Sammons, Ann Fitch and Michelle McMullen. On the right is Pat Woodbury, Newport News School Board member.
