| "No one has to stand alone with this disease" was one of the key themes delivered to Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg members recently by Gino Colombar of the Hampton Roads area Alzheimer's Association. Mr. Colombar said watching his father slowly be overcome with the disease spurred him to make a career change and help others understand how to cope with Alzheimer's. Outgoing Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg President Larry Murphy officially passes the gavel to incoming President Martha Madeira, who officiated at her first meeting Oct. 3. Madeira will serve as the 200-member club's president during its 50th anniversary year, and will oversee numerous special events that will commemorate the club's golden anniversary. |

| Officer Hal Diggs of the James City County Police Department was the featured speaker at a recent Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg meeting. Officer Diggs informed the members that, while not yet a serious problem in the James City-Williamsburg area, the presence of organized gangs is being noticed in some areas of the region. He pointed out ways to recognize gang activity, and reported on steps local law enforcement agencies are taking to stop further activity from taking place. Kiwanis International President Dave Curry (right) and First Lady Eva Curry will
be visiting the Capital District in late January 2008. During
this special time our district will be hosting a number of
events for the First Family of Kiwanis. On Saturday evening,
January 26, 2008 Governor Art and First Lady Vickie will
host a reception from 6-7 pm (with cash bar) followed by
dinner at the Comfort Inn Conference Center, 4500 Crain Hwy,
Bowie, Maryland 20716.
