The Hampton Roads Region Growth
Team held their first meeting on October 20th at the Clarion
Hotel Conference Center. Governor Art Riley, Trustee Floyd
Brown, Past Governor Yvonne Holly were among the Team members
who attended.
The Team discussed the Regions, Division by Division, identifying potential for new clubs and what Clubs needed assistance getting back up to strength.
Trustee Floyd had a handout with the three phases we are to cover in the HR region. He stated New Club Building was number one. Discussion centered on a multi-pronged effort. Gov Art discussed concentrating on a rotational basis throughout the Divisions if it was easier to concentrate resources. Lt. Gov's expressed concern some Divisions need to concentrate on Rebuilding Clubs before starting new clubs. The team identified and prioritized potential sites for New Clubs and Rebuilding Clubs. We discuss resources available through the growth team and review Jack White's video.
With the new Toano and Aktion Club in Hampton, HR region is well on its way for the year. Carla Morin is already in discussion with a group of 70 young professionals who meet in the Williamsburg area and might be interested in coming under the Kiwanis umbrella. The discussion was on how the professional model worked in D.C. but not in Md. So we are testing a different model in Williamsburg. Vivian Kruger and Catherine Elder are going to map the Kiwanis Clubs in the Hampton Roads region and then place the schools in the region on this map. Checking with Kiwanis International and the Lt.Gov/clubs we will verify schools they programs with and those that are in their area. This is a good visual of what we are dealing with and cleans up some of the problems that Vivian Kruger has encountered in who has what.
Each conference will have these three agenda items: New Club Building, Club Growth, and Communications, Public Relations-Marketing. related article
