Kiwanis International President's Visit

Kiwanis International President Dave Curry (right) and First Lady Eva Curry will be visiting the Capital District in late January 2008. During this special time our district will be hosting a number of events for the First Family of Kiwanis. On Saturday evening, January 26, 2008 Governor Art and First Lady Vickie will host a reception from 6-7 pm (with cash bar) followed by dinner at the Comfort Inn Conference Center, 4500 Crain Hwy, Bowie, Maryland 20716. more

1st Key Leader Weekend a Success!

Thirty-nine High School students from around the Capital District came to Camp Letts near Annapolis on Friday afternoon Oct. 5th. Thirty-nine trained, energized, and enthusiastic student leaders left at noon two days later. The very first Key Leader Weekend in the Capital District, was, by all indications, a rousing success. more

Change in Club Official Monthly Report
by Ellis H. Stroup, District Secretary-Treasurer

The Official Monthly Club Report Form to be used for the 2007-2008 clubs reporting will be up on the Kiwanis One System on November 1, 2007. The Form will reflect many changes over the former report form.

  • Club membership totals will be taken from the Kiwanis International Files and not from the club reports. Prompt reporting of New Member Ad and Deletion notification to Kiwanis International is imperative in order that membership records be accurate and up to date.
  • The Statistical Summaries as published heretofore on the District Web Site will be captured from the Kiwanis One System. While the format of this report will be different, the information contained on the report will be essentially the same. This information will be available to the clubs, the District Officers and the Administration and Operations Committee.
  • The current Kiwanis International Remote System is being revised and will be the source through which the Kiwanis One System will draw its information. When this is completed just a little later in the year, club secretaries will be able to access this information through the reporting system.
  • The Annual Report Criteria for the ensuing year will be completely compiled from information provided on the club report. This step will eliminate the Supplemental Form that was required for the year just ending.

The overall developmental process of the Kiwanis One System has been moving along at a rapid pace. It is at a point where we will be seeing many more changes that will enhance the benefits for our clubs and for Kiwanis International. The growing pains sometimes causes frustration but in the final analysis it will be a vehicle that will have been worth going through.
