Club of Hampton Celebrates Sixth Annual Protectors Night

The Kiwanis Club of Hampton
recognized the outstanding persons of the year from
organizations involved in the safety of the community
at a dinner celebration entitled "Protectors Night", held at the Clarion Hotel on April1 22,2008. Each honoree was presented a Plaque,
signifying the accomplishments for which they were
being recognized..
The Honorees were: Hampton Division of Fire & Rescue; Master Medic Firefighter Nicholas A. Bonniville, "EMS Provider of the Year " and Medic Firefighter Jeffrey S. Bell " Firefighter of the Year". Hampton Police Division; Senior Police Officer Kent A. Drumwright, "Police Officer of the Year" and Sergeant Christopher R. Persons, " Investigator of the Year". US Air Force from Langley Air Force Base; A irman 1st Class Paul N. Miller, "Expeditionary Officer of the Year" and Staff Sergeant Leroy Clemona, Jr., "Airman of the Year". US Army from Fort Monroe; Sergeant Michael A. Holloway, " Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year"; and Sergeant Tyler E. Shultz ," Soldier of the Year".
Representing the honored
organizations and participating in the presentations
were; Fire Chief James A. Gray, Jr. from the Hampton
Division of Fire & Rescue ;Major Randy Seals from the Hampton Police Division; Air Force Colonel
Jeffrey Pritchard, Vice Commander 1st Fighter Wing
and Chief Master Sergeant James A. MacKinley from Langley
Air Force Base and Colonel Jason T. Evans, Post Commander
and Army Command Sergeant Major Leroy A. James from
Fort Monroe. .
Kiwanis Club of Hampton President Vivikka DeLoach
presided. The Chairman of the Club's Community Service
Committee, Craig Wilson (Col. USAF Ret.) assisted
in the presentation. Kiwanian LeRoy Dyment, Jr ,
Program Coordinator, was the Master of Ceremonies.
This was the sixth annual program.

The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year’s theme
is “Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights—not
to be missed—is Friday night’s Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention. 
The
final version of the proposed Strategic Plan for our District
will be presented to the House of Delegates for ratification
at
DCON
2008 in
Richmond,
VA
this
summer.
Once
ratified
by the District delegates, the plan belongs to the District
membership and the District Board will be charged with executing
it.
