Inducts Howard Mars

Howard was raised in Florida,
NY a small farming town about 60 miles from NYC. He
graduated from Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN.
After college Howard was drafted into the Army and
served 18 months in Korea as a personnel specialist
in the 7th Infantry.
During his working years Howard spent time in sales and marketing with International Paper, CR Bard, Miles Labs and American Cyanamid.
While taking a graduate course Howard met his wife Joanne only to find out later they both worked for the same company. They have two children; a daughter in Richmond and a son who lives with his wife and two kids just north of Boston.
Howard has been in three different Lions Clubs, the most recent one at Smith Mountain Lake. He found out about the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg from his sponsor and neighbor, Bill Hodges and likes working with youngsters and the idea of lunch meetings. The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year’s theme
is “Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights—not
to be missed—is Friday night’s Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention. 
The
final version of the proposed Strategic Plan for our District
will be presented to the House of Delegates for ratification
at
DCON
2008 in
Richmond,
VA
this
summer.
Once
ratified
by the District delegates, the plan belongs to the District
membership and the District Board will be charged with executing
it.
