by Helen Maloney
April 25-27, 2008 was my second time at Key-Leader. The first was as a new participant last October. This time I returned as a faciltator and enjoyed working alongside the adults to make the weekend at Arlington Echo Education Center in Millersville, MD special for the first-timers. Every high schooler student should be able to experience Key-Leader. more

Cardinal Keeler to Speak to Baltimore City Club
by Mike Schaefer, Pres.

Cardinal Keeler (right), a prince of the Catholic church, 2nd only to the Pope, is a native of San Antonio, Texas, will be speaking to the Kiwanis Club of Baltimore City on May 29th at our club meeting 12:15 to 1:30pm at Germno's Restaurant in Little Italy (300 S. High St.) in Baltimore. Cardinal Keeler has known several popes, is recently retired as Archbishop of Baltimore and is one of over 90 cardinals who voted to elect the present Pope, Benedict XVI. Cardinal Keeler will speak to the club about the Pope's recent visit to New York and Washington, DC. He will also talk about other Popes he has met in his historic role as one of America's Cardinals. This is the first time a church official of such rank has visited a Kiwanis Club, and the worldwide organization that we are, Kiwanis International is expected to give some good coverage to the event. We welcome any Kiwanians to our $20 luncheon. As a Kiwanis leader I have presented boxing champ Archie Moore, comics Tommy Smothers and Bob Saget, popcorn king Orville Redebacher and Casino Mogul Steve Wynne. But neve a Cardinal. There is a serious problem, what do I do for an encore?
