John
Norton in the Spotlight
by Rosemary Cummings
Past Lt. Gov Rose Poole (Seaford Kiwanis) recently visited Rehoboth Beach Kiwanis Club to induct John Norton into the Club, his third such experience in joining Kiwanis. John Norton and his wife Karen moved to Delaware in 2007, after he retired for the second time from Aetna. While working for Aetna he lived in New Jersey, Connecticut (twice), and Pennsylvania. John also worked for a Regional HMO and a systems technology company between his Aetna tours. All his work experience was in health insurance claims, customer service, and technology. Fairleigh Dickinson University was the source of his degree in Political Science. The U.S. Army "owned him" for three years, including ten months in Vietnam.
John's Kiwanis experience includes membership in three clubs - Windsor, Connecticut (1981-1987), West Allentown, Pennsylvania (1987-1998), and Norwalk Connecticut (2003-2005). John said, "It has bee my privilege to serve previously as a Lt. Governor and Certified Kiwanis Trainer. When John decided to rejoin Kiwanis, he called Kiwanis and was directed to several DE area Clubs. While Rehoboth Kiwanis was a near his home, he knew what the Club did, he had read about the Club in the local media. In true Kiwanian form, when his sponsor, the Club President offered John a job in the Club, he immediately agreed to serve as co-chair of the Rehoboth Membership committee next year. He and Karen will be married 20 years tin October. They live with their cat Annabelle in Paynters Mill in Milton. Children, Christopher (34) and Kimberly (31), live in New England. They have a beautiful grand daughter, Erin Elizabeth, who is 2 1/2 and loves visiting the beach. Rehoboth Beach Kiwanis welcomes John to many more years of Kiwanis Service.
