It is with great pleasure that I announce the selection of Mr. John Sloan as the new Executive Director of the Kiwanis International Foundation. John is a very talented leader with a strong background of success in resource development and fundraising and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). He has been involved in a leadership role in development at Purdue, Indiana University, and the NCAA, and prior to those assignments he served as a capital campaign consultant. His most recent assignment was with Purdue University where he led an effort to raise millions of dollars as part of their historic $1.2B Campaign. Prior to beginning his career in resource development, John served in the United States Air Force where he held a number of key leadership positions before retiring in 1988 as a Lt. Colonel.
John impressed the interview team with his knowledge of development, his track record of success and his belief in the power of volunteers. His references told us he is a visionary leader who leads by example and inspires others through his own personal passion and commitment. Members of the Interview team included Foundation President Eddie Callis, President-Elect Jane Erickson, KI and KIF Board Member Don Canaday, and staff members Jeff Oatess, Lisa Heindricks and Rob Parker. The decision to hire was unanimous.
John lives just a few miles from the Kiwanis International office in Indianapolis and is well-respected in the philanthropic community. John will begin his duties on May 1, 2007 and can be reached at jsloan@kiwanis.org.
On a personal note, I believe John will be a valuable member of the Kiwanis
Family and I am thrilled to welcome him to our team.
