Harrisonburg
Club Presents 2008 Scholarships
by Patty May
The Harrisonburg Kiwanas
Club recently presented the Raymond Dingledine $1,000
Scholarships to two graduating Harrisonburg High School
seniors, Olivia Quach and Sarah-Dave Hand. The awards,
presented at a May 13 banquet, commemorate Dr. Raymond
Dingledine, a long time Kiwanis member, as well of
former department head of the JMU History Department.
Ms. Hand is secretary of the HHS Key Club. She plans
to attend Christopher Newport University. Ms. Quach,
president of the HHS Key Club, plan to attend Princeton
University. The Harrisonburg Kiwanis has awarded these
scholarships for over 45 years. The club's motto is "Serving the Children of the World" and has supported our community since 1922. Pictured L to R: Mr. Jay Supko,

The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme
is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention.
