West
Potomac HS Key Club Hosts "Senior Prom"
by Bruce Malkin

The second annual "Senior
Prom" for the seniors who participate in the programs at the Hollin Hall Senior Center
in Mount Vernon was a lively affair. About 20 Key Club
members supported by their three Faculty Advisors,
organized, decorated, and ran a terrific party with
a distinctly "south of the border" flavor on the afternoon of May 19. With live DJ music, the Center rocked with
the Macarena, salsa, and cha-cha numbers, with students
and seniors dancing in pairs and groups. Delicious
food was provided by Chevy's Mexican Restaurant, with
make-it-yourself beef or chicken tacos and all the
fixings available throughout the afternoon. Kudos to
the Kiwanis Key Club Co-Presidents, Taylor Smythe and
Jessica Read, and to the WPHS Faculty Advisors, Kathryn
McCullohs, Suzette Henry, and Kimberly Summers.
The Kiwanis Key Club at WPHS as well as those at three other area high schools is sponsored by the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club (MVKC). Bruce Malkin, President-Elect of the MVKC took these photos and wrote the text. The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme
is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention.
