Arlington Club Holds Happy Hour for Outreach and Recruiting
by Ted Kramer

The Arlington club started a new program this year that combines community outreach, membership recruiting, sponsorship growth and fundraising. On March 11 we held an after-hours social at Whitlows on Wilson from 5:30-7:30 pm. We sent out over 400 eVites and about 80 people attended, including almost 20 members of the club. Two corporate sponsors, Virginia National Bank and Buck Associates, each contributed $500. We charge $10 admission and provided door prizes, free food and a cash bar. The beneficiary of this event, Vanguard Services, received a check for over $1,200. Everyone had a great time, and we met lots of young professionals who live or work in the Arlington area.

We had a second happy hour mixer on May 20 at La Tasca on Wilson Blvd. in Arlington. We only had one corporate sponsor, HSBC Bank, which contributed $500 plus a door prize. We also charged $10 to the 50+ people who came, including about a dozen members of our club. The beneficiary, Doorways for Women and Families will receive about $500 from this event.

Our plan is to continue with these happy hours every few months with different sponsors, different venues and different beneficiaries. Over time we hope to recruit additional members from the young professionals who have been coming to these events.
