Bio of Gov.-Elect Candidate Don Dudey

I am not sure I have met each of you during my visits to all 8 of the Mid Winter conferences this year, but if I have not, let me introduce myself. I am Don L. Dudey, Candidate for Governor-elect for 2008-2009. Within my own club - Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown, where I joined on September 12, 1982 and have held the following offices: Chair of the following committees - Membership, Risk Management and Finance; Director three times, Co-advisor to the Franklin Key Club, Treasurer for 15 years, Vice President and President. I have been the club secretary for the past two years and hope to continue for the next several years. more

2008 Capital District Convention Aug 14-17, 2008: A "Prescription for Success"

The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August 14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention. more

Jeffrey Rohde Chosen Reisterstown Club Teenager of the Year

Jeffrey Rohde of Reisterstown, MD has been chosen 2008 Teenager of the Year by the Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown. He is a sophomore at Franklin High School and was selected from a field of nominees from the area's high schools. Nominees were evaluated on their academic achievements, volunteer service, citizenship and leadership performance.

Jeffrey Rohde is the son of John and Monica Rohde and he has one sister, Jenna Rohde. Jeffrey was Class President this past school year and will continue his presidency in the upcoming 2008-09 school year. He is the Peer Tutoring Coordinator of NHS at Franklin High School for the 2008-09 school year. He was also a Peer Mediator in 2007, Geometry Tutor in 2008 and has been on the Varsity Track Team since his Freshman year. Jeffrey is an active participant in Area 51* Youth Group at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon and a member of the Cornerstone Youth Leadership Team at Sacred Heart. He was the winner of the Spanish Poetry Festival in Orlando 2007 & 2008 and the Truchet Crumbagh Award in 8th grade. He is a new member of the Franklin High School Broadcast Studio Crew.

Jeffrey's other interests apart from his countless hours of volunteering are drawing and painting, photography and of course running. In his future Jeffrey would love to be either a criminal attorney or an accomplished surgeon. He credits his family for having the most influences on his life, "They are my constant. They always are and always will be there for me and they are the ones who keep me motivated and grounded throughout my difficult teenage years."

Jeffrey Rohde exemplifies today's young people striving for excellence in their own lives, as well as contributing to the betterment of their communities.

The Kiwanis organization's major emphasis is "serving the world's children," and a major focus is youth services. Kiwanis clubs throughout the world sponsor Circle K Clubs in colleges, Key Clubs in local high schools, Builders Clubs in middle schools and K Kids in elementary schools, as well as mentoring teens and other projects benefiting children.

The Kiwanis Club of Reisterstown is proud to recognize Jeffrey Rohde as Teenager of the Year for 2008. As a winner on the clubs level, Jeffrey's nomination will be submitted to the division and district competition with other teenagers through Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and DC.
