Mt
Vernon Club Collects for UCM's Food Pantry With Big Results
by Bruce Maklin
On Saturday, May 24, the
Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club (MVKC) collected food for
UCM's Food Pantry outside the Hollin Hall Safeway on
Fort Hunt Road. The Club does this 5 times a year,
but this time it was especially successful in receiving
donations of almost 1400 pounds of dry foodstuffs plus
more than $100 in cash and checks from the generous
patrons of this Safeway. In addition to the 8 MVKC
members working the 4 shifts from 9:00 to 5:00, two
Boy Scouts with special needs, Joseph Cahill and Daniel
Vasquez, also participated fully in the morning along
with the MVKC, which is the sponsoring organization
for this Boy Scout Troop. Pictured are Boy Scouts Daniel
Vasquez and Joseph Cahill with MVKC Member Lisa Caputo.

is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
