Ocean
Pines/Ocean City Club Learns About Local Treasure
by D.L. Landis
Pictured are Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines/Ocean City
President, Ed Schaefer, with Ocean Pines resident and duck
carver Patrick Renaud on his right showing off some of the
duck decoys that Patrick carved. He was a most informative
guest speaker at a recent Kiwanis Club weekly meeting at
the Ocean Pines Country Club. Patrick is also a docent for
the Ward Museum in Salisbury, Maryland which houses magical
displays of decoys and carvings from all over the world.
Patrick guides people through the museum and narrates the
treasures on display, almost magically bringing the carvings
to life. You have to see it to believe it! The Ward Museum
is named after local famous decoy carvers, the Ward brothers,
and contains many of their priceless works. It's certainly
one of the Eastern Shore treasures well worth spending time
to see.

The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme
is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention.
