Elizabeth Doerr named Tab Club Teen of the Year

Lauren Elizabeth Doerr
was named 2008 Tabb Kiwanis Club Teenager of the Year
at the Club dinner meeting on Tuesday, May 6. Miss
Doerr is a senior at Tabb High School with a GPA of
4.21 and planning to attend the University of Virginia
in the fall. She is the President of the National Honor
Society and the President of the Operation Smile at
her school. She was also selected by the school administration
to participate in the Student Leadership Team and attend
the Virginia Girls State in her Junior and senior years.
She participated in many fund raising activities in
her school and in various air force bases. She prepared
and sent care packages for troops overseas in Iraq
and to the active duty members during the holiday time
to boost morale. She played outside hitter in her school
Varsity Volleyball Team, the defender in Varsity Soccer
Team and was awarded the most positive attitude player,
and the Sportsmanship Award in Volleyball. She loves
art and received a Gold Award in Spanish language.
Being raised in a military family, she has lived in Italy, Japan and other countries, and
experienced different cultures. Passionate, diligent,
and worldly, she is an outstanding young lady. Pictured

The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme
is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention.
