The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme
is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention. DUCKY
DERBY - or, as I like to call it, 'THE QUACKER-QUEST FOR
THE BIG BUCKS!'

Your Capital District Kiwanis Foundation (CDKF) runs this event every year at our District Convention (DCON). This year it will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008, at 3:00 PM. As you probably know, this is our CDKF's big fund raiser of the year. Since 1982, your foundation, with your support, has donated over $400,000.00 to the following seven pediatric hospitals here in our Capital District:
- Children's Hospital, National Medical Center, Washington, DC
- Johns Hopkins Children's Center Baltimore, MD
- Children's Medical Center, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA
- Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters, Norfolk, VA
- Children's Medical Center, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA
- Children's Hospital at Community Hospital Roanoke Valley, Roanoke, VA
- Medical Center of Delaware, Wilmington, DE
My fellow Kiwanians, I'm going to ask each of you to please do a very little thing for you, (Ten Bucks!) but a very big thing for children who need crucial medical treatment.
