Mt.
Airy Landscaping Crew Spruces Up TwinRidge Elementary
by
Bill Butts

Twice a year, in Spring and Fall, a group of Mt. Airy Kiwanians
visit TwinRidge Elementary in Mt. Airy and spend a Saturday
morning weeding the school's flowerbeds, trimming over-grown
shubery, planting additional flowers, and mulching all of
the beds. The project is sponsored by the Youth Services
Committee of the club in close coordination with the school.
This year's Spring visit, in early May, marked the third
year that the club has undertaken the activity. As a result,
a growing and valued partnership has developed between the
club and the school,... and the school's landscaping and
flowerbeds are really starting to look impressive! For more

The 2008 Capital District Convention will be held this year from Thursday, August
14 through Sunday, August 17th in Richmond Virginia at the
Downtown Marriot and the Richmond Convention Center, just
a few blocks from the State Capitol. Hosted by the Heart
of Virginia Region of the Capital District, this year's theme
is "Prescription For Success,” and one of the big highlights-not
to be missed-is Friday night's Birthday Party at the Marriott
to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the District Convention.
