by Warren Kane

The Kiwanis Club of Arlington is again partnering with the Art Deco Society of Washington for their annual Northern Virginia Antiques and Modernism Show. The Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22, 2008 at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center, 3501Second Street, South, Arlington, VA.

This annual event is the largest display of antiques in the Washington area. Expected are 120 antique vendors from 15 States, Canada and France. The show will feature 17th-19th century antiques including fine furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, bronzes, fine porcelain, paintings, posters, art pottery, books, oriental rugs, vintage clothing, and other collectibles. Glass repair will again be available at the show.

The expanding partnership with the Art Deco Society features 40 dealers of art nouveau, art deco, and mid-century modern collectibles from 1910-1970.

This top-flight show is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Kiwanis Club that annually returns about $100,000 to the Arlington community. Pappabello, a member of the Professional Show Managers Association, organizes the show. Lunch will be available from a new caterer, First Class Catering who will be presenting a full menu of delicious items.

Hours of the Antiques and Modernism Show are Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 22 from noon to 5:30 p.m. The $7 admission ticket, available at the door, is good for repeated entries throughout the two days.
