Grafton
Club Donates $3000 for Appalachia Project
by Rob Elsass
The Kiwanis Club of Grafton
has presented $3,000 to the youth of St. Luke's Methodist
Church, in Grafton, for their Appalachia Service Project
(ASP.) For a dozen years Grafton's Youth Services Committee
has earmarked the Spring BBQ earnings to support the
ASP. The Grafton Club's highly successful Spring 2008
BBQ event was held on May 10. In June, 58 youth and
adults will travel with tools, supplies -- and enthusiasm
-- to help 8 families improve their homes. In preparation
for their ASP work, the youth and adults learned building
skills and practiced them locally. "The real learning,
however, will be gained as they interact with the families
they go to help," said Grafton Treasurer Kathy Everhart.
