Suburban Frederick Kiwanis in Touch with Ukrainian Club
by Terry Proescholdt

The Kiwanis Club of Kiev, Ukraine has been in touch with the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick soliciting ideas for upcoming projects. Here is a recent communication from their club to ours. We look forward to a continued communication with this distant Kiwanis Club.

Hello, Terry

Thanks for your letter. I was glad to hear that we will have a dialogue. I wish to tell about myself and about our club. Our club will locate in Kiev the capital of Ukraine. I'm a teacher by education and philologist. My husband are journalist. We have the daughter Renata. She is 23. She is a lawyer.

We just study more to communicate together and also we shall think what to do. We have already good team. In our club there are people who already works with children which live on the street and at the children's homes. And also we help the boarding school for children which has an autism diagnosis.

I with the group have think what projects we can make in this year. I see that many people has desire to work. We shall make emblem of Kiwanis of Ukraine. One from our members of club very good designer. In our country now all social programs not works. Especially very hard situation with children and teenagers which live on the street and at children's homes. We wish to create for teenagers 13 - 16 year old social places where they can live and study. I see our club as a beginning creation of serious programs.

After opening club and presentation I shall plan meetings with some government officials. I am glad that we became a part of the big international family. I and my people we shall be glad to see you in our city. I know many programs we cannot make, but I trust many people from the different countries and the organizations will be partners in our projects.

I want to tell about what we love. I love painting. Sometimes I draw only traditional Ukrainian painting. several years ago I was constantly invited to make out a walls different establishment. But now I have no a time for this. I make a not big pictures which I give to the friends. My love to creativity was expressed in work with teenagers which live on the street and children at the children's homes. We do with them different works, figures.

Also I love poetry and I write verses too. When I was director of children's chorus I wrote children's songs. On character I the organizer. I like to carry out a different holidays. Weddings, birthday, picnics. The last year we have carried out 10 Christmas holidays for children.

Our family likes productive leisure. My husband Valera the perfect contrast to me and we supplement with it each other. He very much loves music and sports especially paintball.

He had musical band for which he wrote music. Valera is a very kind and strong person. When he was 21 year old, he worked as the assistant to editor of the central newspaper.

My daughter Renata is 23 year old. Renata perfectly knows English language. Frequently her invites to work as the translator for different Christian groups. In our country very few people knows the English. She likes to make a photos, frequently it is persons of people, sometimes streets, nature but all is unusual. Now she works as the lawyer in the center for street children as a volunteer. She want to get an experience and special record in the work-book. And after that she will search for other work.

I`m also attached the pictures of opening our club.
