Oceanview K-Kids Korner
by Rosemary Cummings

Lord Baltimore ES K-Kids Quilters and Readers got into the giving spirit as each designed and created their own greeting cards to give to each Class in the school from Pre-K to Fifth Grade, using construction paper, markers, stickers and bows, and messages from the heart. They also prepared special Christmas greetings for Senior Kiwanians of Rehoboth Beach club. A major school project came to realization when each new student in the fourth grade received a Welcome Bag from the K-Kids who assembled the handy bags with notebooks, pencils, crayons, a history of LBES, and information about Kiwanis and the K-Kids. The new students heard Ms. Fradel explain how and what K-Kids do and invited them to join after the New Year begins. After Christmas cookies and lemonade, the K-Kids meeting got to work cutting and sewing personalized quilted ornaments to give to a family, a friend or to hang on their tree. While waiting for their turn at the sewing machine, they read quilting stories about the traditions of families and groups who make quilts.
