by Gov.-Elect Tom Ganse
Greetings, Fellow Capital
District Kiwanians!
We all know what a difference Kiwanis makes in our
home communities, but what would happen if there
were no clubs? How much would our communities lose?
How much meaning and fulfilment would you lose from
your own life? One might argue that the greatest
service one can provide is the one that ensures our
clubs remain viable, for without clubs, we cannot
serve our communities.
The Capital District recognized this when we approved
the Shaping Initiative. Among other things, it provided
for regional representatives to offer ready support
for local clubs within respective regions. It will
take several years to fully staff every committee
with effective, committed volunteers, but that building
process is gaining momentum, and now is the time
for *you* to consider a season of greater service!
I am charged with completing my appointments before
March 1st, 2008, although these appointments don't
take effect until October 1st, 2008. Realistically,
I need to complete this task before January 15th,
2008, so incoming members can take advantage of training
at the Regional Midwinter Conferences, participate
in formulation of committee goals, and be prepared
for District Leadership Conference Training in late
May. What follows is a list of District Committees.
There are openings on every one. You can find more
detail in the attached
document. Please take a moment
to review the opportunities that await you and consider
a season of greater service!
E-mail me at tganse@earthlink.net to let me know
where you would like to serve, or if you would like
more information. Thank you for everything you do
for Kiwanis, but more importantly, thank you for
everything you do to make your communities better
places to live!
Yours in Kiwanis Service,
Tom Ganse
Governor-Elect, 2007-2008
