After more than 20 years of meeting at the Kenwood Country Club, the Kiwanis Club of Bethesda has changed their meeting location. Beginning in January the Club will gather at Tragara Restaurant on Cordell Avenue in downtown Bethesda at 11:45 am for lunch ($18). Club Program Chair Jeanne Smith has lined up an incredible series of speakers.
On January 3, Marc Leepson, a former staff writer for Congressional Quarterly, will speak to the Club on the Civil War. Mr. Leepson is the author of six books and has written for the Washington Post, Smithsonian, Military History, Civil War Times Illustrated, and the New York Times.
On January 10, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and veteran political analyst Walter Pincus of the Washington Post will speak on national and homeland security issues.
On January 17, continuing our award-winning series in medicine and health, Dr Laurie Herscher of Suburban Hospital will speak to the Club on the topic of nutrition and physical activity in the prevention of cancer.
On January 31, Chevy Chase
resident, Julia Bail, will tell her remarkable and
life-altering experience of being brought back to life.
Ten minutes after symptoms of a heart attack she was
brought to Suburban Hospital. Within one minute after
arrival she was in complete cardiac arrest.
Interclubs are always encouraged so please join us by contacting Pat Tiede, Club secretary, at 301-493-6937 or patriciatiede@comcast.net.
