KI Store Hit by Hackers

Almost daily, stories about credit card fraud and large corporate security breaches headline the news. Without question, these crimes are on the rise and criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Kiwanis International recently became victim to such a crime when we learned of an unauthorized intrusion into its Kiwanis Family Store Web site and related database, hosted by a third-party provider. The perpetrator gathered credit card information and shipping addresses by illegally accessing our system through the Internet. more

Mason-Dixon Region Mid-Winter Conference Hosts KI Pres. Dave & Eva Curry

As if a well-organized (thanks, Bill Hand!) conference full of excellent workshops was not enough, the 2008 Mason-Dixon Regional Mid-Winter Conference was honored with the presence of Kiwanis International Pres. Dave Curry and his wife, Eva. Dave even joined Gov. Art Riley and Immed.-Pat Gov. Bob Cressy to promote the June 26-29, 2008 Orlando, FL KI Convention. Salisbury School Key Club Visits Kiwanis Club of OP/OC
by David Landis

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines/Ocean City was treated to a visit by The Salisbury School's Key Club at the January 9th weekly meeting. Key Clubs are the high school clubs of Kiwanis International which are community service organizations. There is a Key Club at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, Maryland which is also sponsored by the local Ocean Pines/Ocean City Kiwanis Club, but members were not able to attend this meeting.

The purpose of the visit was to report to the parent club about the Leadership Program to which the local Kiwanis Club sent the Key Clubs in October 2007. Pictured left to right are Corky Widerman, President-elect of the local Kiwanis Club, Key Leader Erin Dayton Jones, Key Leader Easton Wilkins, Salisbury School Key Club Secretary Hyobin Sung, Treasurer Mitchell Melton, and the Salisbury School Key Club Advisor Erin McAfee who teaches at the Salisbury School. The theme of the Leadership Program was about implementing Integrity, Respect, Service Leadership, Community, Growth, and Excellence. It also gave the clubs a chance to meet members from other Key Clubs. The goal of Kiwanis International is "Serving the Children of the World". What a great example are the Key Clubs. It's so encouraging and rewarding to see today's youth step up and be involved in service to their community.
