The Kiwanis Club of Wheaton-Silver
Spring delivered their Annual Food Baskets to two deserving
groups this year. More than twenty Kiwanis members
participated in purchasing, packing and delivering.
Fifteen Key Club members joined with deliveries. This
year Chairperson: Fran Ware, Pres. Elect and Nancy
Savas, Vice Pres. worked hard to see that we served
the needs of the community and made sure we completed
a Young Children: Priority One Project. All the fixings
for a great Thanksgiving Day Dinner were delivered
to the Troop Readiness Director for the returning troops
at Walter Reed Hospital, included were books for the
children.
The Crossway Community in Wheaton were also recipients of food baskets for the entire facility. Crossways promotes learning for both the parent and child. They provide housing, job training, as well as an Infant Montessori School. Their outreach is to low income and at risk families. The Wheaton High School Key Club which is sponsored by Wheaton-Silver Spring Kiwanis Club joined with the Kiwanians to bring joy to many deserving people. Each year the Key Club join with us to help make a difference. We couldn't do it without their help.
