Providing
support to families of our wounded military is the
newest service project
undertaken by the Kiwanis Club of Bethesda. The Fisher
House Program at Bethesda Naval Hospital, a unique
private-public partnership, provides "a home away from home" that enables family members of the military to be close to a loved one at the
most stressful time - during hospitalization for an
illness, disease, or injury. Here, families can focus
on the healing process, free from the financial concerns
of finding an affordable place to stay, in an unfamiliar
city, while a loved one is hospitalized.
On December 4, the Club will prepare and provide dinner to the 15 families staying at Fisher House The Club will continue to provide dinners at Fisher House throughout the year. Donations of food and dollars from the community are encouraged.
