Colonial Capital Club Shakes for Kids
by Gil Curl

Members of the Kiwanis of Colonial Capital Club can be found "shaking canisters" outside many of the Williamsburg area stores as we launch our fundraising efforts to support our annual "Toy Drive for Local Kids" project. This marks the 27th consecutive year of this service to the community. Working through local social service agencies, Kiwanis identifies needy families with children ranging in age from infants to 12 years. The club invites the parents of these children to come to a local toy store at a designated time to select toys for their children, and Kiwanis pays the bill. Last year, 250 families were served, representing 490 children, and nearly $15,000 worth of toys were purchased. The club hopes to exceed those levels this year.
