Last year the four Kiwanis
clubs of Carroll County, Maryland contributed $1500
each (for a total of $6000) to fund the purchase of
diagnostic equipment for the Carroll Hospital Center
Women's Place and Birthing Center. This was a very
worthwhile joint project as it benefited all of the
communities in the county. As a follow-up to that joint
donation, a grant request was submitted to the Capital
District Foundation by Division 9 Lt. Governor Fred
Lohnes on behalf of the clubs for supplemental funding
for the Birthing Center at the Hospital. Ultimately,
the foundation board approved a grant of $1000 in response
to the request. This donation was recently presented
to the Carroll Hospital by representatives of the local
Kiwanis clubs on behalf of the foundation bringing
total Kiwanis donations in the past year to $7000.
