Kiwanis International President Dave and First Lady Eva Curry will be visiting the Capital District in late January 2008. During this special time our district will be hosting a number of events for the First Family of Kiwanis. more

Governor Art Riley and First Lady Vickie Visit Southwest Region

It's a long trip from Westminster, MD to the far corner of the Capital District's Southwest Region, but Governor Art and his wife, Vickie, spent the weekend prior to Thanksgiving doing just that -- as part of their official visits to Region 2, 3 and 8. By all measures, the trip was a success. more

Kiwanis Club of LaPlata Completes 2nd Mural

The Kiwanis of LaPlata Club's Community Service Committee created this mural in the reception area of Angel's Watch Shelter. Angel's Watch Shelter is a shelter for battered women in Hughesville, MD. The mural is bright and colorful in hopes that it will help to ease frightened children and mothers in search for the help they need. The designers and painters were: Betty Lindsay, Donna Avery, Michelle and Curtis Taylor.
