Governor Art Riley and First Lady Vickie Visit Southwest Region

It's a long trip from Westminster, MD to the far corner of the Capital District's Southwest Region, but Governor Art and his wife, Vickie, spent the weekend prior to Thanksgiving doing just that -- as part of their official visits to Region 2, 3 and 8. By all measures, the trip was a success. more

New Kiwanis Club of Charlotte Hall, MD Charters November 6, 2007
by Immediate Past Governor Bob Cressy

The newest club in the Capital District, the Kiwanis Club of Charlotte Hall, held its Charter Night celebration on November 6th in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, with twenty eight charter members. A large crowd attended the gala and buffet dinner. The club is sponsored by two Kiwanis Clubs, the Waldorf Club and the St. Mary's Club. Charlotte Hall Kiwanis was officially organized August 13th, 2007, under the direction of 2006-2007 New Club Building Chair and now Governor Elect Tom Ganse. Great leadership, Tom! Thanks!

Immediate Past LG of Division 22, Bud Zimmerman, was the master of ceremonies introducing Past Governor and recently elected Capital District Candidate for International Trustee Jerry Peuler to recognize the New Club Builders. Immediate Past Governor Bob Cressy congratulated Charlotte Hall officers, directors and charter members on becoming the fifth new club for the 2006-2007 year. PG Bob offered greetings from Kiwanis International and the Capital District then read and presented the official Charter and assisted Charter President MaryLynn Whetstine in presenting officer and director pins of their office. The Charlotte Hall Kiwanis Club is already into community service projects and is sponsorship of a SLP club. Wow! Great start!

Nothing like a well decorated cake to set off the Celebration for Charlotte Hall charter night.
