Club of Rehoboth Beach Recognizes Police Officer of the
Quarter
by Rosemary Cummings
The Kiwanis Club of Rehoboth Beach recognized the Police
officer of the First Quarter for 2008, Master Corporal
Randy Ramirez a Delaware State Trooper for 20 years, for
his dedication,
commitment and support to the youth of the Delmarva Region.
He started his work with the Delaware State Police in May
1988 and graduated from the Delaware State Police Academy
three months later. Upon completion of field training,
Cpl. Ramirez was assigned to Troop 7 in Lewes where he
worked
patrol for three years. He became at K-9 handler in 1992
and continued patrol duties at Troop 7 until 1996 when
he became the School Resource Officer for Sussex Technical
High
School. During his eleven years as a School Resource Officer,
Cpl. Ramirez was a cross-country coach for the school team,
taught Reality USA to troubled teens, and was an advisor
on the school's criminal justice panel. In June of 2007,
Cpl. Ramirez left Sussex Tech and became a detective in
the Youth Aid Division at Troop 4 in Georgetown. At the
same
time, Cpl. Ramirez
was named director of Camp Barnes and is solely responsible
for the operation of the camp.
Cpl. Ramirez served four years in the United State Marine Corps before becoming a Trooper and he is very proud of his service to his country. He plays bagpipes for the Delaware State Police Pipes and Drums unit and represents the Division at various community events. Married 14 years, Cpl. Ramirez lives in Georgetown, DE with his wife and 10-year-old daughter.
Cpl. Ramirez, through his altruistic service shows a high value for the lives of our children, developing more serviceable citizens, building stronger communities and exemplifying the Objects of Kiwanis, the foundation of Kiwanis Service.

The Growth Team’s much-discussed Grundy CD tells about the spectacular success
this Southwest Virginia Kiwanis Club had with its recent Membership
Night program. But did you know Grundy tried the same thing
two years ago and all but failed. What made the difference
the second time? I answer that
question in my new Monday Morning Message.
