Ocean
Pines/Ocean City Club Community Service and Membership
by D. J. Landis
Pictured is the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines/Ocean
City Membership Chairman, Don Schmid, addressing the membership
at a weekly meeting. Subject: Community Service requires
membership to drive it. While the local club is one of the
larger clubs on the Eastern Shore, it is also one of the
most active clubs.
Some of the projects of the local club include fundraising
for scholarships to local deserving senior students for continuing
education via three annual pancake breakfasts, the upcoming
Italian Dinner on Sunday April 13th (Call 410-208-6719 for
reservations at $10 for adults and children under 12 at $5),
the Carolina BBQ in the summer, The Duck Race in September,
the Golf for Scholarships in September and the Holiday Fruit
Sale in December, to name a few.

Final plans are underway for the Second Capital District Key Leader Weekend being
held April 25-27th at Arlington Echo in Millersville, MD.
The menus have been selected, the camp visited by Capital
District Key Leader leadership, and registration well underway.
All we need are for the Kiwanis Clubs to be sure their sponsored
youth participants are getting registered and subsequent
invoices paid.
