Old
Town Club Teams with Applebee's to Raise $$$
By Doug Butler
Want to make a Grand! That was the plan when Kiwanian Doug Butler of the Kiwanis Club of Old Town (Winchester, VA) met with management of the local Applebee"s Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Since the establishment did not serve breakfast, a plan was formed to serve a Applebee's Kiwanis Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast on a Saturday morning. The plan paid off when over 300 advance tickets were sold at $5 each plus a lot of tips for servers was received during the event. Applebee's furnishes the food and the cooks, Old Town Kiwanians did the serving and greeting. It was also a great place to display Kiwanis information on the community service events held by the Kiwanis Club. Applebee's gained by having customers in their establishment that had not visited before but will be returning. Only change next time - print 400 advance tickets.

Final plans are underway for the Second Capital District Key Leader Weekend being
held April 25-27th at Arlington Echo in Millersville, MD.
The menus have been selected, the camp visited by Capital
District Key Leader leadership, and registration well underway.
All we need are for the Kiwanis Clubs to be sure their sponsored
youth participants are getting registered and subsequent
invoices paid.
